50,000 Subscribers: A Milestone, a Thank You, and a Special Offer
Here is to the Historiophiles — now is our time
Another milestone reached. Sometimes, you really have to pinch yourself to believe something is true. A few days ago, the subscribers of Studying History—or “Historiophiles,” as I prefer to call you—surpassed 50,000.
I couldn’t celebrate it properly or thank you right away because, truth be told, these past few weeks I’ve been buried in my university exams in Archaeology and Art History, as well as working intensely behind the scenes on a few new projects. And there is so much coming... but my lips are sealed for now.
50,000! Are you guys real? I keep pinching myself, yet the number doesn’t go down.
But let’s be clear about what this number means. You are not just passive subscribers on a mailing list. You are the vibrant heart of a community. A global gathering of people who share a profound love for history, archaeology, art, and culture. By reading, engaging, and being here, you belong to something much larger than a simple newsletter: you are part of a collective effort to keep the voices of the past alive, exploring how they continue to shape our modern world.
I started this journey a little over a year ago to prove—mostly to myself—that it is never too late, guided by the ancient words of the Athenian lawgiver Solon: “I grow old always learning.” It turns out, there are tens of thousands of you across the globe who share this vision.
To make a long story short
If you want to become a true, full-fledged Historiophile, if you want to support my ongoing effort to prove that history matters, that beauty will indeed save the world and that we’re not doomed after all, if you want exclusive access to the premium essays and everything else I’m preparing but hesitated for financial reasons—now is your chance.
For a few days only, in celebration of this massive 50,000 milestone, I am offering a 50% discount on all paid subscriptions. (Keep in mind, an additional built-in discount already applies to annual plans, making the yearly upgrade an absolute steal! Also, current subscribers are more than welcome to switch their plan to take advantage of this offer.)
A Special Gift for Annual Subscribers
And there is more. For a strictly limited time, anyone who opts for the annual subscription will also be eligible to receive a high-quality, professional physical print of my favourite poem by C.P. Cavafy, Thermopylae.
As a token of my deepest gratitude, I am offering this perk—which has recently been reserved exclusively for the founding members of the Historiophiles Society—to our new annual members:
Honor to those who in the life they lead
define and guard a Thermopylae.
Never betraying what is right,
consistent and just in all they do
but showing pity also, and compassion;
generous when they are rich, and when they are poor,
still generous in small ways,
still helping as much as they can;
always speaking the truth,
yet without hating those who lie.
And even more honor is due to them
when they foresee (as many do foresee)
that in the end Ephialtis will make his appearance,
that the Medes will break through after all.
There are absolutely no strings attached for those who choose to receive the print. My only small request is that, if you enjoy it, you might consider sharing a quick Note tagging Studying History when it arrives at your doorstep.
Group Subscriptions
Finally, because history is always better when discussed with company, I have enabled Group Subscriptions. If you subscribe together with a friend, colleague, or family member (minimum group size: 2), you automatically get a 20% discount per seat.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being my fellow travelers on this journey through time.
Υou can also show your support by treating me to a frappé coffee or buying me a book:
Until the next stack, ἔρρωσθε καὶ εὐδαιμονεῖτε.
