Having been an ex-tour guide for a western company I had the pleasure (and pain) of summiting Mt Sinai (starting at 4am) and walking down the back stairs to the Monastery every two weeks for a year and as i understand it, protection to the site was also agreed upon by many the factions of WWI/II.. to be unmolested by any force!

A gorgeous monastery with exquisite Byzantine art work and of course 'the burning bush'.

I hope this gets settled correctly.

This is the last thing Jesus would have wanted. Buildings, places, things… these are not where god resides. Protect the books the monastery has if you like, but the monastery itself is honestly inconsequential. Faith alone is the true shibboleth.
