These are such beautiful poems, truly. I found myself reading them over and over again. I especially loved "Immortality" by Clare Harner. Thank you for sharing them :)

Beautiful poems. My deepest condolences. The right piece at right time is medicinal. Yet people forget that. My son is obsessed with history now and only reading history books (he is 10). His knowledge is already amazing. But I plead with him not to abandon fiction (‘but it didn’t really happen.’)
I explain we study history to make sense of the world we are in now too. We study a good work of fiction or a poem for the same reason. As my Greek uncle once said ‘you don’t need to study philosophy when you have literature.’ A good work of literature with profound insights about how we should live life is vital. And can even save a life as a doctor might if it helps someone get through difficult points in theirs. We used to tell stories in villages orally to make sense of our troubles. The villages are thinning out now. So when we are lonely and we need to know someone else has felt as we do we can never find a better salve than by reading the right book at the right time.
Please listen Ryan Holiday on Marcus Aurelius on Spotify in case it helps plus the Gregory Haynes translation of Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations
I also recommend you look at Cavafy’s ‘voices’ too.
Thank you for your kind words, Joanna. Voices is a beautiful poem indeed. I love Cavafy as you might already figured out. I will most certainly look for your recommendations on Spotify.

Even better in the Greek of course.
Voices, loved and idealized,
of those who have died, or of those
lost for us like the dead.
Sometimes they speak to us in dreams;
sometimes deep in thought the mind hears them.
And with their sound for a moment return
sounds from our life’s first poetry—
like music at night, distant, fading away.
